Stay in a beautiful castle which was built in 1696 for the Alfieri family that has its own historic wine estate and English gardens! We will travel about an hour and half from Milan to the Langhe, an area that was designated an UNESCO world heritage site in 2014 and is considered one of the world’s finest winemaking regions. Here, we will explore the world of powerhouse wines like Barolo, Barbaresco and many others. We will also have an opportunity to hunt and forage the very special white truffle, a wild tuber that only grows in specific areas of northern Italy. As these truffles cannot be cultivated and farmed, they are highly prized, like their black French Perigord counterpart. Come and savor this unique delicacy under the tutelage of Chef Alice Delcourt and through the wine pairings of Sommelier Danilo Ingannamorte. There will be opportunities to enjoy a walk to town, explore the vineyards and gardens of our retreat space and to see some of the beautiful towns in the area. We will visit local, artisanal food producers, meet some of the most special wine makers of the region and to learn about recipes and cooking techniques.
