Alto Piemonte is an ancient wine making area nestled in the shadow of Monte Rosa, the second highest peak in Europe. Here, we find nebbiolo vines, the same grapes that produce the Barolos and Barbarescos of the well known Piemonte region, just 100 miles south. While these powerhouse wines have conquered the palates of many wine lovers around the world through their deep, elegant and timeless finishes, there is an opportunity to explore wines from the same grapes with a very different terroir just to the north. Alto Piemonte wines are richer in minerals and full of nuance due to the unique geology of the area. In addition, in the past 15 years, the climate here has become warmer with drier summers, lending itself to the production of some outstanding wines. Alto Piemonte is enjoying an amazing resurgence and is now firmly gaining its well deserved place in producing some of the best red wines in the world.

Under Danilo Ingannamorte’s guidance you will discover this area that is steeped in hundreds of years of tradition but also is full of exciting new growth. We will visit some of the most representative wine producers of the area, as well as get acquainted with the wine landscape of northern Italy through many comparative and diverse guided tastings.

Alice Delcourt will share her vision of slow food cuisine guiding you through local traditions and at the same time sharing her way of cooking that has made her one of the leading chefs in Milan. You will also get your hands “dirty” engaging in practical cooking classes where you will learn to create mouth watering dishes.

Meet us at Erba Brusca, Alice and Danilo’s farm to table restaurant in Milan. We will visit their farm, Orto Brusco, just down the lane and will all enjoy a meal together. After lunch we will transport you to Agriturismo Borgo Cà del Becca, our retreat space in Alto Piemonte. Over the next 4 days we will explore all that the region has to offer and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. The days will be filled with a variety of activities: In depth wine workshops, private visits to expert wine producers, cooking classes, beautiful hikes and nourishing long dinners at the end of the day.
