Alto Piemonte is an ancient wine making area nestled in the shadow of Monte Rosa, the second highest peak in Europe. Here, we find nebbiolo vines, the same grapes that produce the Barolos and Barbarescos of the well known Piemonte region, just 100 miles south. While these powerhouse wines have conquered the palates of many wine lovers around the world through their deep, elegant and timeless finishes, there is an opportunity to explore wines from the same grapes with a very different terroir just to the north. Alto Piemonte wines are richer in minerals and full of nuance due to the unique geology of the area. In addition, in the past 15 years, the climate here has become warmer with drier summers, lending itself to the production of some outstanding wines. Alto Piemonte is enjoying an amazing resurgence and is now firmly gaining its well deserved place in producing some of the best red wines in the world.
